Hello Rocket Parents!

My name is Autum Matt and I am proud to be the campus nurse at Rogers Middle School. I am excited to be a part of your child's education and believe that success in school is directly related to the good health and emotional well-being of each student. If your child has any changes in their health, please let me know.  I am here to assist and support you and your child in any way. Please do not hesitate to call or come to the clinic. You can reach me at (832) 736-6431 or email matta@pearlandisd.org.

Here is some important information for you to remember.

  • Illness - Keeping our children healthy is always a challenge.  Please adhere to the following P.I.S.D. guidelines before sending your child to school.  We want to minimize the spread of any illnesses at school.
A child cannot be at school with any of the following:
  • Fever of 100 degrees or higher.  Students must be fever free for 24 hours without use of a fever reducer before returning to school.
  • Vomiting or diarrhea – Must be free of symptoms for 24 hours
  • Any communicable diseases
  • Contagious rashes or weeping sores
  • Medications - When possible, all medication should be given at home. However, some medication will be dispensed at school according to the following guidelines:
  1. If a medication is required at school, you may complete a 10-day medication administration form available in the nurse’s office or the Pearland ISD health services website.
  2. After 10 days, a physician’s authorization permit will be required. This includes all prescription as well as over-the-counter medications. (Antibiotics may be given before school, after school and at bedtime.)
  3. All medication must be provided by the parent in the original container.
  4. All medication must be brought to the clinic on arrival to school.
  5. The student may not carry on him/herself nor administer to him/herself any medication.
  6. The school nurse will supervise the storing and dispensing of medication.
  • Health Screening - Vision and hearing are screened during the fall for all fifth grade students.  You will be notified if your child needs any further evaluation.
  • Immunizations - Students attending public school are required to meet the Texas Minimum State Vaccine Requirements.  You will be notified if your child needs any immunizations throughout the school year or over the summer.  Please make this a top priority if your child needs an immunization and return proof of immunizations to school.
  • Emergency Cards – Please notify the school of any changes in information on your child’s emergency card.  Often when a child becomes ill at school a parent cannot be reached.  Make sure your emergency contact numbers stay accurate.
